The 6th national banking conference (Banking Vietnam 2007) will be held in Hanoi from May 30 to June 1, focusing on modernising the financial sector's information technology and global integration, according to a press conference on March 22.

Under the theme “Modern Vietnam Banking System and International Economic Integration”, the event will help companies sharpen their competitiveness.

“Banking Vietnam 2007 will be an open forum for IT providers to customise and implement technology transfers", said IDG Vietnam Managing Director Le Thanh Tam.

Mr Tam, whose firm is a co-organiser, said technology transfer will not only benefit local banks, but also benefit customers through better services.

Ta Quang Tien, director of the Information Technology Department of Banking, which is also a co-organiser, said: “We plan to deliver information on key issues facing banks and suggest solutions as well as development oriented strategies, and introduce advanced banking technology products.”

The conference will address research development and technology applications over the past few years. It will also feature speeches from more than 40 international and local experts.
