The 32nd ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) qualifying round for the Asian region kicked off in central Da Nang city on November 9.

This is the second time the ACM/ICPC’s regional contest has been held in Vietnam, gathering more than 10 teams from Asian universities, including China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

The contest will finish on November 11.

The winners of regional contests will advance through to the ACM/ICMC world finals, which are scheduled for April 6-10, 2008 in Canada.

The Vietnam Information Technology (IT) Olympiad for Students 2007 also opened at Da Nang University on November 9 with the participation of nearly 1,000 students from across the country.
