Vietnamese film “Rung Den” (Black forest) will be screened at the 23rd Namur International Francophone Film Festival, scheduled to take place in Belgium from September 26 to October 3.

More than 200 famous film directors and producers are expected to participate in the festival during which 130 films from 15 French-speaking countries will be screened. The festival is sponsored by the French-speaking Belgian Community (Wallonie – Bruxelles).

The film, directed by Vuong Duc, will be shown at 9.30pm on September 27. It will be nominated for the public-vote prize worth 4,000 Euros.

Rung den won a consolation prize at the 2007 Canh Dieu Vang (Golden Kite) Awards organised by the Vietnam Cinema Association.

The 93-minute film tells the story of woodcutters in a family that has to bear the consequences of harming the forest spirit after the father cuts down an ancient tree.
