Assistant to the Egyptian Foreign Minister Tamer Khali visited Vietnam from February 28 to March 2 to further enhance bilateral ties.

The Egyptian official held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Dao Viet Trung, met with Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, and had working sessions with officials from ministries of trade and industry, healthcare, and agriculture and rural development.


High on the agenda of these talks and meetings were measures to further boost the two countries’ cooperation in trade, agriculture and healthcare.

International and regional issues of mutual concern were also brought up for discussions during which the officials stressed on the need to bolster the two countries’ collaboration at international and regional forums.


The Egyptian diplomat said he highly valued socio-economic achievements Vietnam has made in the past 20 years of renovation and congratulated the country on its United Nations Security Council non-permanent membership for the 2008-09 term.


He expressed hope that with efforts made by both sides and large untapped potential for cooperation, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will enter a new period of development.
