The France-Vietnam Friendship Association is organizing an exhibition at the Saint Laurent Cultural Centre in Verneuil-sur-Avre to introduce Vietnamese culture to rural France.

On display are various Vietnamese handicrafts including silks, wooden sculptures, rattan weaving and embroideries of the countryside.

The Association’s President, Cecile Minh, said that the town of only 6,000 residents is quite cut off from the world and the local people know very little about Vietnam. Therefore, the municipal leaders want to hold the exhibition to help them understand more about Vietnam’s culture and people.

She added that through this exhibition, the Association can raise more money to support disadvantaged people in Vietnam.

First established in 1991, the Association has regularly organized charity programmes for people with disabilities and has received a large number of Vietnamese students and officials visiting France.
