A seminar between businesses from Vietnam and the Wallone region of Belgium took place for the first time on September 25 as part of the Autumn Fair 2006 in Liege province.

The seminar, which drew representatives of nearly 100 Vietnamese and Wallone enterprises, aimed to help the two sides exchange information on the investment environment as well as seeking business opportunities.

At the event, Georges Pire, permanent deputy governor of Liege province, reviewed cooperation between Liege and some Vietnamese localities, particularly HCM City, in terms of healthcare and education.

For his part, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Diep Kinh Tan emphasised the Wallone region's advantages that capture Vietnam’s interest. He also said that some Belgian firms have efficiently invested in local projects on dairy cow, irrigation and agro-forestry product processing.
