HCM City needs VND 256 trillion to carry out transport infrastructure projects in the 2010-2020 period, according to the municipal Transport Department.

Poor transport infrastructure is increasingly becoming a great pressure on the city’s sustainable development, therefore, the city is calling for investment in transport infrastructure projects such as building trams, underground stations, bridges, ports and car parks.

A number of major projects that need huge investment capital include a project to build  belt road number 3 at a cost of VND18,735 billion, a Ben Duc-Long Thanh expressway project (VND19,500 billion) and a metro project (VND9,600 billion).

In addition, HCM City needs more capital to implement other infrastructure development projects on education, waste treatment, healthcare and information and technology.
