The third session of the National Assembly Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on October 3.

The week long session, presided over by NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung from October 2-5 and later from October 11-14, will focus discussions on the technical issues of the Law on Measurement, the Law on Complaints and Denunciation, and the Law of the Sea.

It will give opinions on six laws which are to be submitted to the upcoming NA’s second session, including the law on water resources, the revised labour law and the law on trade union, the law on anti-money laundering, the law on deposit insurance, and the law on administrative violation.

The NA Standing Committee will also consider the 2011 reports of the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy, reports on the complaints and denunciation by citizens, sentence enforcement and anti-criminal, anti-corruption and anti-wastefulness.

Addressing the session, NA chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung asked members of the NA Standing Committee to do their best in preparation for the 13th NA’s second session, which will focus on the implementation of strategic tasks set by the 11th National Party Congress.

Whether the NA can make right decisions and devise effective measures depends a lot on careful preparations by the Government and related agencies, Mr. Hung stressed.
