A spelling mistake earned Nguyen Song Anh from Ho Chi Minh City first place at an international drawing contest organized by the British Council.

According to the British Council, the most interesting thing is that the 8-year-old boy misheard the instructions and captioned his drawing of the Westminster Palace with the well-known Big Ben Clock Tower in London as the Big Bang Clock Tower. The misspelling stirred the judge’s hearts and secured him first prize.

The judge comprising British Council director of teaching Anna Searle and Paralympics competitor Susannah Rodgers said that Anh’s drawing will be displayed around the globe.

Robin Rickard, director of British Council Vietnam, said it is hard to guess the judge's thinking. It is unsure whether they were captured by his innocent spelling mistake or if they thought that there was a deeper, hidden meaning.

However, Anh admitted it was a misspelling as he had confused it with the Swiss watch brand of the same name.

Anh’s drawing has been printed at British Council offices around the world and will appear on the front page of the new desk calendars for British Council staff in more than 200 countries.
