Ha Long to host Cherry blossom festival 2015

The Halong cherry blossom festival 2015 entitled “Peace – Prosperity – Cooperation and Development” will take place from April 2 to 5 in Halong City in northern Quang Ninh province.

The event will be organised by the Halong city People’s Committee in collaboration with Japan’s Wanokai International Culture Association to promote cultural exchange, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The information was released by vice chairman of Halong city People’s Committee Tran Trong Trung at a press briefing which has recently held in Quang Ninh province.

A diverse range of cultural activities, including exhibitions featuring culture, tourism and cuisine from Vietnam and Japan, film screenings, workshops on health care, education and the environment, and art performances will be held during the festival.

As many as 500 cherry blossom branches from Japan are expected to be showcased.

On this occasion, children from the Northeast of Japan who suffered from the earthquake and tsunami of four years ago will present cherry trees to children in Quang Ninh province to show their gratitude to the Vietnamese people for their support.

The festival’s opening ceremony will entertain local audiences and visitors with traditional cultural and art performances by artists from both nations.
