The Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) has coordinated with the Germany-Vietnam Association to organise a seminar entitled “Vietnam - a new tiger in Asia” in Germany.

The seminar attracted a number of economic experts, lawyers, professors of universities, representatives from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Co-operation and Development and the Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and nearly 40 German and Vietnamese businesses.

Speaking at the seminar, Vietnamese Chargé d’affaire Nguyen Minh Vu highlighted the great potential of the Vietnamese economy and incentives for investors. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany is willing to co-operate with German ministries and economic groups to help German businesses penetrate the Vietnamese market.

Dr Peter Hefele, a KAS representative, emphasised advantages for German investors when doing business in Vietnam, such as a stable political and social environment and high economic growth.

With cheap and abundant human resources, Vietnam is a potential market for German investors. However, researchers pointed out weaknesses that the country needs to resolve, such as a lack of highly qualified workers, poor infrastructure, corruption and incomplete legal system.
