The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a joint business forum in Hanoi on October 28 to introduce Vietnam’s business environment and investment opportunities to Swedish enterprises.

Addressing the forum, VCCI General Secretary Pham Gia Tuc said that there are bright prospects for cooperative relations in the fields of economics, trade and investment between Vietnam and Sweden. He expressed the belief that Vietnam will continue to be an attractive, potential and sustainable market for Swedish investors.

The Swedish ambassador to Vietnam, Rolf Bergman, said that this is the first time Vietnamese and Swedish enterprises have co-organised the event, and bilateral co-operation mostly focuses on tourism and culture. He expressed the hope that enterprises of both countries will promote co-operation in investment and trade in future, adding that Swedish products have been available in Vietnam for a long time.

The forum attracted the participation of more than 10 trans-national Swedish groups, including SEB, Handelbanken International, SKF, GAMBRO, Cybercom and Getinge, operating in such fields as finance, banking, medical equipment, construction, real estate and telecoms.

During their stay in Vietnam, these company will hold working sessions with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the municipal People’s Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and enterprises under the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Eurocham).
