Vietnam’s exports to the UK in 2007 are estimated to have reached US$1.4 billion, up 20 percent, according to the trade office at the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK.

Among the main export items are footwear, garments and wood products, accounting for more than 70 percent of total exports.

For the first time in the past year, Vietnam exported processing machines to the UK. The Hanaka Company has recently signed contracts with Melford International to hand over two 20MVA-processing machines in early 2008.

It is expected that Vietnam’s exports to the UK will grow at a rate of 15-20 percent in 2008, earning around US$1.57-1.64 billion.
