A sole interministerial central agency for better management of the nation's natural reserves will be established with assistance from concerned international organisations.

The agency is expected to play an important role in drafting legal documents and policies on natural preservation and preferential policies for people to earn their living from forests.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to date, Vietnam has 126 natural reserves, including national parks, special-purpose forests, wildlife sanctuaries and wetland areas.  In Vietnam, 300 animal and plant species are facing the threat of global extinction.
