The two draft laws were adopted with a majority of votes in favour and will come into effect as of January 1, 2007 to provide a legal foundation for related activities in Vietnam.

National Assembly (NA) deputies on June 21 heard reports on explanations and adjustments to some articles of the draft Law on Cinematography and the draft Law on Real Estate Business, and voted for the approval of the two draft laws.

Most deputies agreed with the name, scope of amendments, subjects for application and major contents of the draft law. Opinions focused on State policies to develop the cinema industry, types of cinema establishments, conditions to establish and manage cinema businesses, film import-export activities, film licensing and regulations to deal with violations.

After being revised for NA adoption, the draft Law on Cinematography consisting of eight chapters and 55 articles, stipulates the organisation, operation and development of the cinema industry, and the rights and obligations of organisations and individuals involved in the area. Chairman of the NA Committee for Economics and Budget Nguyen Duc Kien presented a report on amendments and supplements to the draft Law on Real Estate Business, which was discussed previously on May 20.

In addition, NA deputies contributed opinions on the scope of adjustments to the draft law, activities regarding real estate business, conditions for organisations and individuals involved in real estate business and State management of this area.

After being approved, the draft Law on Real Estate Business includes six chapters and 81 articles, stipulating real estate business activities, the rights and obligations of organisations and individuals relating to real estate business. Notably, under the revised draft law, qualified individuals are allowed to serve as a mediator for negotiations and signing of real estate business contracts and enjoy commission under signed contracts.

The same day, NA deputies adopted the two draft laws with a majority of votes in favour.
The two draft laws will come into effect as of January 1, 2007 to provide a legal foundation for related activities in Vietnam.
