The central province of Thua Thien-Hue received 80 non-governmental social projects worth US$5.65 million in 2005, of which US$5.5 million were disbursed, a 138 percent year-on-year increase.

Projects carried out in the province focused on socio-economic development and improving the living conditions among poor communities. Of the total investment capital, health care and education projects accounted for 28 percent, while cultural relic preservation projects accounted for 17 percent.

The Hue Central Hospital, Hue University and Hue Relics Preservation Centre have successfully implemented non-governmental projects in compliance with State regulations.
