The New Open World organization has nominated Ha Long Bay, a world heritage site in Vietnam, as a global natural wonder on the website www.natural7wonders.com, where voters can submit their nomination from now until June 2008.
Thanh Nien newspaper has launched a campaign in Hanoi calling for public support to promote the famous beauty spot.

Giving Ha Long Bay worldwide attention will help project the image of Vietnam’s land and people globally.

Ha Long (Descending Dragon) Bay is located in northern Quang Ninh province, about 165 km from Hanoi.

The bay covers more than 430 km2, dotted with nearly 800 limestone islands rising spectacularly from the ocean. It is renowned for a unique system of caves formed by the encroaching sea.

Besides geographical attractions, Ha Long Bay is home to a diverse ecological system, which includes mangrove forests, tropical forests and coral reefs inhabited by more than 1,000 species of fish and marine animals.
