Senior Buddhist monk Thich Huyen Dieu, head of two Vietnamese monasteries in India and Nepal, met with local Buddhist followers in Hanoi on July 11.

During the one and a half hour talk, the Buddhist monk urged listeners to express their love for the country and their fellow countrymen. The monk advised them to live kindly to attain peace of mind.

He then asked the governments of Vietnam and India to have more exchanges so that their Buddhists and laypersons could better learn from each other.

All participants observed a minute’s silence in memory of the victims of wars, wishing for peace on earth.

The Buddhist monk presented to local followers two of his books published by the Ho Chi Minh City Culture and Art Publishing House.

Monk Thich Huyen Dieu is chairman of the International Buddhist Federation in Lumbini. He is also founder of two Vietnam Phat Quoc Tu (Vietnam Buddhist Monastery) in Bodh Gaya in India and Lumbini in Nepal.
