Talks were held between the Lao and Vietnamese Ministers of Culture and Information in Hanoi on March 31, as part of the on-going Vietnam visit by Lao Minister of Culture and Information Mun Keo Olabun, from March 28 to April 3, at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Quang Nghi.

They compared notes on socio-economic development in each country and expressed their delight at the success of the 8th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. The Lao Minister thanked the Vietnam Ministry of Culture and Information for helping the Lao culture and information sector with effective co-operation programmes.

The two then discussed measures to promote bilateral co-operation in such areas as film archiving, personnel training and construction of four local radio stations in Laos. The proposed stations are of great significance as they will help the country increase radio coverage, which currently reaches just 70 percent of the population.

On March 30, Mr Olabun visited Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).
