Kazakhstan wants to boost economic cooperation with Vietnam, said President Nursultan Nazarbayev while receiving newly-accredited Vietnamese ambassador Vu The Hiep on March 12.

He noted that both Kazakhstan and Vietnam share common experience in economic reform and modernisation as well as similar views on key international issues such as the establishment of equal trade and investment systems and the hosting of dialogue between civilizations and religions.

He said in the face of the global food crisis, the two countries should give priority to jointly developing the agricultural-industrial complex. He said that Kazakhstan welcomes Vietnamese businesses to get involved in projects in the Central Asian nation, especially in the processing industry, so as to build an export-driven economy.

For his part, ambassador Hiep said that Vietnam considers Kazakhstan an important partner in Central Asia and wants to strengthen the friendship and cooperation with the country.

On this occasion, President Nazarbayev conveyed his invitation to Vietnamese leaders to visit Kazakhstan.
