Vietnam boosts comprehensive cooperation with Tanzania

(VOV) - A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga paid a four-day visit to Tanzania from May 16-19.

During her stay, Nga met with President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President Ali Mohamed Shein of Zanzibar – a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, and Vice Chairman of Tanzanian Revolutionary Party Philip Mangula.

She also worked with leaders from ministries of foreign affairs, agriculture, transport, science and technology, and visited some agricultural and tourism centres in Zanzibar and Tanzania.

The Tanzanian leaders hailed Vietnam’s recent development achievements and stressed that Tanzania wants to strengthen friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

President Kikwete asserted that despite the geographical distance, Tanzania always considers Vietnam as a close friend and hopes to learn from Vietnam’s success.

Nga thanked Tanzania for its support to Vietnam and emphasised that Vietnam attaches much importance to strengthening friendship and comprehensive cooperation with this African nation.

She briefed her hosts on Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and open foreign policy, aiming to settle all disputes peacefully, contributing to peace and stability in the region and the wider world.

The Tanzanian leaders confirmed that they will continue to support and closely coordinate with Vietnam in the international arena.

Both sides discussed measures to boost future cooperation, especially in agriculture, telecommunications, trade, maritime transport, human resource training and tourism.
