Music lovers in Hanoi on February 15 were entertained by Isabelle Durin, a gifted French violinist with piano accompaniment by Tran Ngoc Bich.

At the Hanoi Opera House, the duet performed famous pieces including "La Havana Girl" by Camille Saint Saens and the first three chapters of a Spanish Symphony by Edouard Lalo. Durin's performance shone particularly on Sonata No. 9, entitled "For Isabelle," a gift from her Vietnamese friend, composer Nguyen Van Quy.

Durin's burning passion for the violin grew from her early childhood through her music studies at Lyon College. In 2003, she was honoured as the first violinist in the national orchestra d'lle de France.

This is not the first time Isabelle has played works by Nguyen Van Quy, who is known as a prolific composer for the piano and violin. In 2004, she performed his Sonata No. 7. Quy's music is widely popular in France and Germany.
The French violinist is to perform at the French Cultural Centre in Hanoi on February 16.
