A concert featuring some works of Tchaikovsky will be held at Hanoi Opera House on June 21-22.

They will be performed by violinist Nguyen Huu Nguyen and other musicians from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) under the baton of conductor Andrea Pestalozza.

Art lovers will have the chance to enjoy Violon Concerto D major Op.35 and Symphony No.6 “Pathetique” B minor Op.74.

Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer whose works included symphonies, concerto, operas, ballets and chamber music. Some of these were considered the most popular concert and theatrical among the classical repertoire.

He was the first Russian composer whose music made a lasting impression internationally, especially with his appearance as a guest conductor later in his career in Europe and the United States.

Tchaikovsky appeared at the inaugural concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1891. He was honored by Tsar Alexander III in 1884 and enjoyed a lifetime pension in the late 1880s.
