The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has reduced charges for foreign mobile phone users who register to use its roaming service in Vietnam.

The move was announced as part of VNPT's plan to encourage foreign mobile phone users to make roaming calls in Vietnam while the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting 2006 takes place next month.

According to the VNPT, its roaming charge applied to foreign roamers was reduced from US$0.37 to US$0.25 per minute for all outgoing calls to other users in Vietnam.

International calls will be charged at US$0.25 per minute plus international charge and a surcharge (15 percent of international charge).
