Construction of  the Linh Phong Buddha-dharma complex at Cat Tien commune in the central coastal province of Binh Dinh began on August 29.

The 63.4 ha complex has reserved an area for a 54m-tall statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, which is believed to be the tallest statue of its kind in the country, and also houses the 30,000m2 Phap Luan (Dharma-cakra) Square.

The complex, funded by 70 businesses both inside and outside the country, will include Linh Phong pagoda, a park and a recreational and service area.

The work is scheduled to be completed by 2011.
