Mexico eager to augment cooperative ties with Vietnam

(VOV) - Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto affirmed his nation’s desire for increased cooperation with Vietnam while receiving Ambassador Le Linh Lan who came to present her credentials on February 13.

The Mexican President told his guest that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will open up monumental opportunities for furthering economic and trade links between the two countries.

President Nieto voiced his support for promoting exchange visits at all levels in 2015 which witnesses the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help the Vietnam Embassy hold celebratory activities in Mexico.

He thanked Vietnamese leaders for extending an invitation to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the APEC Summit in 2017.

Ambassador Linh Lan expressed sincere thanks to the Mexican people and government for their valuable support for the past struggles for national independence and the current Doi Moi (Renewal) process, noting that Vietnam pritotizes developing the ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Mexico.

The Vietnamese diplomat said she hopes with the 40-year fine traditional friendship, huge potential for stronger economic growth and the early TPP signing, Vietnam and Mexico would fully utilize tremendous opportunities for boosting bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, investment, culture, science and technology, health care and education in the interests of the two peoples for peace and development in the two regions and the world as a whole.
