An exhibition featuring Buddhism culture and art opened in Hanoi on May 13 as part of the celebrations of the United Nations Day of Vesak.

Fifty-four art pieces relating to Buddhism by 12 artists are to show at the exhibition.

The exhibition also displays 300 china, pottery and bronze antiques, which are typical for the Buddhist art.

More than 800 photos of pagodas and towers built throughout the country are also introduced to the public.

The same day, the UN Day of Vesak press centre was inaugurated in Hanoi, capable of providing services for 250 local and 50 foreign reporters who have come to Vietnam to cover the event.

According to the Vesak 2008 National Coordinating Committee, more than 1,200 international participants from nearly 70 countries and territories have gathered in Hanoi to attend the event.
