A get-together was held in Paris on June 11 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Children’s Board of the Vietnamese Association in France.

Speaking at the event, Ly Kieu Thu, head of the Board, highlighted Vietnamese children’s activities in France, which have constantly developed during the past six decades. She said since President Ho Chi Minh visited France in 1946, the movement of learning Vietnamese among Vietnamese nationals in France has been boosted.

“A major concern of the Vietnamese community in France is to help the young Vietnamese generation here maintain and develop the cultural identity of the Vietnamese nation,” said Ms Thu.

She said that all Vietnamese nationals want their children to speak the mother tongue and understand traditional cultural values and origin.

Currently, the board is organising four “Learning Vietnamese” classes for Vietnamese children at four different skill levels.
