Hanoi will allocate VND41 billion from its budget to buy gifts for 36,000 needy citizens on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival (Tet).

The receivers include policy beneficiary families, State pensioners, the poor, the disabled, the elderly, orphaned children and drug addicts at rehabilitation centres. They will receive gifts higher in value than in previous years.

The municipal People’s Committee will also spend two percent of its budget to take care of poor people dung Tet, especially those living in Hanoi’s poorest outlying district of Soc Son.

Hanoi’s authorities will also use part of its budget to help 1,677 people at social sponsoring centres and 6,980 people at rehabilitation and social education centres to welcome Tet.
