At the 48th session of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee in Hanoi on April 19, deputies considered the approval of two ordinances concerning the exercise of democracy in communes, districts and townships and on the singing and implementation of International agreements.

Regarding the draft ordinance on exercising democracy in communes, districts and townships, Vice Chairman of the NA Committee for Legal Affairs Nguyen Van Thuan said some regulations are incompatible with financial capacity of administration at a communal level and the Law on People’s Council and People’s Committee Organisation, the Anti-Corruption Law and the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefulness Prevention.

Deputy Do Duy Thuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee said regulations in the draft ordinance should clarify issues related to compensation for land acquisition and resettlement.

According to NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Yeu, the NA will gather opinions from NA deputies to consider the approval of the draft ordinance on April 20 while voting for another post of Vice Chairman at the grassroots administration level and replacement of the terms of “examination by the people” with “ supervision by the people” in related issues.

The same day, the NA collected opinions on readjustment to the draft ordinance on the signing and the implementation of international agreements.
