Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh met with voters in Kha Son commune, Phu Binh district, of the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen on April 19.

Local voters proposed that the Government and Thai Nguyen province invest in building the infrastructure in former revolutionary bases and provide proper compensation for displaced people living on land clearance sites. They also requested the Government to pay more attention to healthcare and education services and combat corruption and wastefulness.

They said that meetings for voters should be renewed so that the National Assembly deputies and deputies from grassroots People’s Councils can listen to people’s aspirations and wishes and carry out their supervisory role more effectively.

Party leader Manh acknowledged voters’ concerns about burning issues and said that the Party, State, National Assembly and Government are making every effort to address them. According to Mr Manh, price rises have affected the living conditions of the majority of the population, including employees and low-income earners. Therefore, he said that curbing inflation is considered the primary task of the whole political system at present.

He shared with voters their difficulties due to the soaring prices of commodities, particularly materials for agricultural production. He said that at the upcoming conference, the Party Central Committee will adopt a resolution on agriculture, rural affairs and farmers, aimed at developing a modern and sustainable agricultural sector and ensuring food security. He stressed that in this process, people are the most important factor behind the success.

During his stay, Mr Manh visited several establishments in the province.
