Vice National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked the Central Post Office to make greater efforts to meet the requirements of information dissemination in a new era.

Ms Ngan made the statement at a ceremony to confer the Labour Hero title on the Central Post Office in Hanoi on January 11.

At the conferment ceremony, the Vice NA Chairwoman also highlighted the central post office’s outstanding achievements over the years.

In nearly half a century of construction and development, the Post Office has always fulfilled its tasks during both war and peace time, supporting the dissemination of information about major domestic and international events.

In the past decades, its post and telecommunications network has strongly developed with annual revenue increasing by 20 percent. In addition, the Post Office is assigned to implement a data transmission project nationwide, contributing to speeding up administrative reform and promoting e-government in the future.

Ms Ngan pointed to the fact that the dissemination of information has required the modernization of the information network and improved human resources. She asked each staff member of the Central Post Office to be firmly and wholeheartedly devoted to their career.

The Central Post Office should carry out the application of data transmission widely, improve efficiency and cut costs for the Party and State agencies, said Ms Ngan.

The event was attended by State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Vice National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
