The news about missing Nguyen Quoc Thinh, a Vietnamese post-graduate doing a doctorate in architecture at Ilinoi Institute of Technology in Chicago raised public concern among Vietnamese students and local media outlets in the US.

According to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent, after being informed about the incident, the Vietnamese Embassy to the US sent diplomatic notes to relevant US agencies asking for their assistance in searching for Nguyen Quoc Thinh.

Born in 1976 in northern Nam Dinh province, Thinh moved to HCM City and received a Government scholarship to study at Ilinoi Institute of Technology for a doctorate in architecture. His academic results have always been excellent in all subjects.

US policemen have conducted searches of some pagodas and churches and released missing person notices but Thinh’s whereabouts remain unknown.

The Vietnamese Embassy to the US is still keeping in touch with Ilinoi police and relevant agencies to continue the search.
