Pakistani media reported at least 12 people dead in a target killing that took place in the evening on October 19 in Pakistan's largest industrial city of Karachi.

According to the reports, the killings took place at a scrap yard in the city when ten to 15 unknown gunmen indiscriminately opened fire on the people at the market.

The gunmen escaped after the shooting. Police and rangers quickly cordoned off the area following the attack, and the injured were shifted to hospitals. Hospital sources said many injured were in critical condition.

This latest target killing has brought the death toll in the city over the past three days to a total of 67.

Despite the government’s strong intervention in the political violence that broke out a few days before in the city, there is no sign the security situation there will stabilize soon.
