Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh attended the launching ceremony for President Ho Chi Minh’s statue in the highland province of Gia Lai on October 3.

The statue marks the province’s 14th Party Congress and the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

It will remind highland people of President Ho Chi Minh’s love for them and represents their respect for Uncle Ho.

The 10.8m tall bronze statue will be cast based on the model by sculptor Pham Van Dua and will be placed on a 4.5m high pedestal. It depicts Uncle Ho in his meeting with highland people.

There is a semi-circle of embossed stone behind the statue measured 58m long and 11m high in the shape of lotus petals illustrating the daily life of highland people, their fighting, construction and development process and their traditional cultural identities including the Nha Rong (communal house), Ruou Can (wine drunk out of a jar through pipes), and Cong Chieng (gongs).
