Vietnam might even reach a new overall rank of 58, said Mr. Justin YAP, Private Sector Development Specialist at a workshop in Hanoi on November 9.

According to the report on Doing Business for 2008, Vietnam ranks 91 among 178 countries evaluated.

The ranking was based on ten indicators namely Starting a business, Dealing with licenses, Employing workers, Registering property, Getting credit, Protecting investors, Paying taxes, Trading across borders, Enforcing contracts and Closing a business.

Vietnam was recognized for its improvements in two of the ten indicators evaluated, namely Getting credit and Protecting investors.

Mr. YAP mentioned three other indicators (Starting a business, Dealing with licenses and Getting Credit), which he said could help Vietnam go higher in the overall rank./.
