A hailstorm hit an area of about 500 ha in Village 8, Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia town, in the Central Highlands province of Dac Nong at sunset on April 22.

The hailstorm, the first experienced by the province in 40 years, lasted for two minutes. The hailstones were as big  as corn kernels and contained dusts and ashes from farm burning by local farmers.

The hailstorm did not cause much damage to local residents. The most affected area was Tran Quang Dong's farm with lost fruit on 10 ha of orange trees.
