Vietnam and South Africa see great potential for cooperation, especially in woodwork production, footwear and seafood, said South African Ambassador to Vietnam Ratubasi Super Moloi.

At a press conference in Hanoi on April 26 to mark the 16th anniversary of South Africa’s Freedom Day (April 27), the ambassador said that South African businesses wish to invest in Vietnam in the areas of mining, clean water, goods services, gold and diamond processing.

On the occasion, Ambassador Moloi announced that South Africa will host the World Cup 2010 in June this year, offering an opportunity for the country to share its cultural values, its heritage and the beauty of its land and people.

Vietnamese people who hold tickets for any World Cup match will be granted free visas to South Africa as quickly as possible, he said.

He added that on the occasion of the opening of the World Cup 2010, the South African Embassy in Vietnam will organise a special football tournament to raise funds for poor children and disadvantaged people. At present, more than 20 teams have registered to take part in the event.
