Vietnam will conduct a general survey of population and houses nationwide on April 1, 2009, according to a plan approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The survey aims to collect basic data of population and houses in the entire territory of Vietnam to serve research on population and housing development. It will be carried out across the country for 15 days and its results will be made public in the third quarter of 2010.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung was appointed as the chairman of the steering board for the general population and housing survey.
