Truong Leon, an American of Vietnamese origin, was deported from Vietnam on December 11 on the charge of involvement in a terrorist scheme.

A representative of the US Consulate in HCM City witnessed the deportation of Truong Leon, who was arrested on November 17 according to Article 84 of Vietnam’s Criminal Code.

Truong Leon, a member of a reactionary organisation of exiled Vietnamese called “Viet Tan”, was transferred to the US side at Tan Son Nhat airport and left Vietnam on flight No. CI 686.

After being arrested, Truong Leon showed repentance and made written request for benefiting from the Vietnamese State’s lenient policy.

Before leaving Vietnam, he pledged not to act against the Vietnamese State.
