Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem will hold a dialogue with the US business community in Vietnam before paying an official visit to the US, according to the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Amcham).

The dialogue will focus on such issues as Vietnam’s foreign policy, Vietnam-US economic relations, the control of the stock market and the country’s investment policy after joining the World Trade Organisation.

2007 is considered an important year in Vietnam-US relations with two official visits to the US by State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Amcham said the annual conference of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) will be held in HCM City from March 22-24.

APCAC is a big business organisation with 25 American chambers operating in 19 countries in the region.
