Buffalo-horn bugle auctioned at Miss World

A buffalo-horn bugle made by the Vietnamese village patriarch of the K’Ho ethnic group has been auctioned at a price of CNY100,000 (VND328 million) at the Miss World pageant being held in China.

This was the gift Vietnamese contestant Hoang My presented to the pageant to raise funds for the poor.

“I’m very happy to lend a helping hand to disadvantaged children to go to school,” said the Vietnamese representative to the contest.

Just twelve gifts were selected to take part in the charity auction from the various items submitted by contestants.

At the auction, the beauty queens from numerous participating countries and territories raised CNY1 million to enable scholarships for poor children and delivered 118 books for the World Book Library, founded by the board of the Miss World Pageant.

After failing to enter the final round of the Miss Sport event, Hoang My is seeking the “Miss World Beauty with a Purpose” title.

The final round of Miss World 2012 Pageant will be broadcast live on VTV6 channel at 7pm (local time) on August 18.
