National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has lauded Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Bill Tweddell, for his practical contribution to strengthening ties between the two countries and two legislative bodies.

While receiving the outgoing ambassador in Hanoi on September 4, Mr. Trong said that relations between Vietnam and Australia had expanded and improved in areas like the economy, trade, investment, development aid, education, training, and science and technology.

He said he hopes the ambassador will continue to further strengthen cooperative relations between the two countries.

Mr. Tweddell said that Vietnam has great potential for development and that Australia and Vietnam could co-operate in different areas.

The ambassador affirmed the Australian Government will grant more scholarships for Vietnamese students in the future.
