The 2nd international conference on Vietnamese literature will be held in Hanoi on January 5-10, 2010, according to poet Huu Thinh, President of the Vietnamese Writers Association (VWA).

The event is expected to draw the participation of 300 delegates from 32 countries all over the world. It aims to present Vietnamese literature to the world community with new look.

Present the conference will be domestic and foreign translators who have made great contributions to promoting Vietnamese literature writers to the world. Also foreign students and postgraduates working in Vietnam will attend the event and engage in exchanges on issues concerning Vietnam’s literature.

The conference will focus on 4 such subjects: Vietnam’s classical literature, the country’s modern prose, poetry and young national writers.

On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition of international literary exchange, a signing ceremony of a memorandum understanding between the VWA and its foreign partners and an awards ceremony will also take place.

The first annual conference was held in 2002, attracting 20 countries. Not long after that, about 30 Vietnamese works of literature were translated into several foreign languages.
