Ly Hoang Nam fails in Japan championships

(VOV) - Vietnamese teenager Ly Hoang Nam was defeated by Japanese tennis player Jumpei Yamasaki 4-6, 7-6, 6-7 in the opening match of the men’s singles titles at the Dunlop Japan Open Junior Championships on October 16.

One day later, his Vietnamese teammate Hoang Thien also suffered a similar defeat by Danish rival Anders Arefeldt Holm.

Both will compete in the men’s doubles event and are exempted from the first round.

In the second round, Hoang Nam will meet Zosimo Mendora (the Philippines) while Hoang Thien will clash against Krittin Koaykul (Thailand).

After the tournament, the two young Vietnamese tennis competitors will stay in Japan to participate in the Osaka Mayor’s Cup-World Super Junior Tennis Championships scheduled for October 22-28.
