Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung urged the armed forces to stay alert to safeguard political security and public order for the sake of socio-economic development during his visit to Military Zone No7 on February 4.

While working with the zone’s officers and soldiers, Mr Dung called for closer relationship between the army and local people to strengthen the all-people national defence.

“Military Zone No 7 units safeguard a primary region, including Ho Chi Minh City, that plays an important role in the national economy,” said the Prime Minister.

He emphasised the task of strengthening army units, improving the quality of military training and cadet education.

The Government leader praised the Zone for its close coordination with other forces in maintaining political security, effectively implementing flood and storm control, conducting post-flood and storm rescue operations as well as preventing wild fires.

He extended lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to all officers and soldiers in the zone.
