While receiving Major General Sengnouane Sayalat, Chief of the General Political Department of the Lao People’s Army, in Hanoi on May 13, President Triet highlighted the consolidation of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two armies and people.

Vietnam highly valued Laos’ development achievements in all fields, affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Vietnam will do its best to support Laos’ development, he added.

The Lao guest said the Laos Defence Ministry and the General Political Department of the Lao People’s Army highly appreciated Vietnam’s assistance in staff training.

The same day, Major General Sengnouane Sayalat held talks with General Le Van Dung, Director of the Vietnam People’s Army General Politics Department.

During talks, both sides agreed to continue their cooperation in training, searching and repatriating remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts who had laid down their lives in Laos during the past wars.

General Dung said that the Lao guest’s visit to Vietnam from May 12-18 would help contribute to consolidating and developing the special and traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
