Vietnamese-French woman honoured for people’s health

(VOV) - The Vietnamese Ambassador to France has awarded the “For People’s Health” insignia to Genneviere Deyme in Paris on December 20.

The award recognises Deyme’s and her late husband’s contributions to children’s health in Vietnam and the Vietnamese expatriate community in France.

Genneviere Deyme is 81 years old. She funds her charity projects with the money earned while she and her husband were working.

Over the years, she and her husband have donated a large amount of money to scientific research and anti-epidemic measures in Vietnam.

Some of their charitable highlights include assisting two health training centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, sponsoring encephalitis research in Bac Giang, and helping fund dengue fever research in Nha Trang.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung expressed the country’s sincere gratitude to the pair, thanking them for work that has saved the lives of many children and brought smiles to others in Hanoi, Bac Giang, and Nha Trang.
