A seminar on the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) was held in HCM City on August 13 by the Japan Business Association, JETRO Office in HCM City in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

At the seminar, Japanese and Vietnamese experts gave a brief introduction of the VJEPA, its tax reduction structure, principles of products’ origin and procedures for granting certificates of origin and fielded questions about the agreement.

The VJEPA was signed in December 2008 by Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Japanese Foreign Minister Nakasone and will come into force as of October 1 this year.

The VJEPA aims to boost economic ties between the two countries, allowing the unrestricted transfer of capital based on the Free Trade Agreement.
