The ASEAN meeting on public telecommunications and connected community policies opened in Hanoi on August 5 with representatives from ASEAN countries, Australia and Pakistan.
According to the deputy minister of Information and Communications, Tran Duc Lai, Vietnam has successfully implemented its policy to bring telecommunications services to all people nationwide.
With information technology and communication development, more people will have the chance to access the Internet, said Mr Lai.
Vietnam has made efforts in developing its telecommunications network and services, becoming one of the world’s fastest nations in telecom development.
The country currently has 58 million phone subscribers, equating to 67 telephones for every 100 people in the country, and 20 million Internet users.
International participants shared their experiences in developing and providing public telecommunications services.
